Best linux for audio production in my experience

Post by markus174m »

Best linux for audio production in my experience:
1. Debian 12 KDE or LXQT with cadence, jackd2 and Pulse audio
install kxstudio meta packages for faster setup and wineasio from same kxstudio repo, the good thing about cadence is that you can set wine asio settings from there..

2. UbuntuStudio 24.04 pipewire

3. Endevor OS (arch linux) kde plasma or lxqt version with latest pipewire.

(I find AvLinux buggy or maybe its me who dont like that desktop environment.. rather recommend stock debian 12 to begin audio setup from there)

Thanks! I may end up moving this into a "getting started" or similar category later. Let me know if there are any categories you'd like to see here.

I've been trying out Kubuntu 24.10 (pipewire). Haven't done anything serious yet, just experimenting with Neural Amp Modeler in Ardour.

I've been meaning to check out NAM. Is there a place where folks share their models?
