Video suggestion(s)

Hi Wesley and friends. Thanks for setting this up.
All of the videos about interface latency on Linux are at least 2 years old and talk about Pipewire like it's "coming soon!" It'd be great to have a video out there with more recent information. I've got an SSL2+ interface that has 70ms of latency pre-tweaking and I bet a lot of people are in that boat. Also, if you could explain why upping the sample rate (doing more work) makes the latency lower, I'd love to understand!

I'm also a life-long guitar player who wasted a ton of his life scoffing at MIDI and would now love to learn more about it. I've picked up some Morningstar controllers and am getting my feet wet that way. So far it's all very fun and lets me combine music & programming which seems like a no-brainer for my interests but for some reason eluded me until now. For a video suggestion, it'd be cool to just know what's out there. I tried to get Ctrlr working, but it has multi-year old PRs for Linux that have merge conflicts so I'm guessing they're going nowhere. Are there alternatives to Ctrlr? I saw this video about controlling one of my pedals with Ableton Live (which I don't own/rent) and got very excited https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cROsRuV_uhg but haven't found a Linux equivalent just yet. I'm guessing I'm terrible at searching though because "linux midi controller software" turns up everything under the sun now that search has been made terrible by AI.

I've been playing with Hydrogen a lot lately too and even their own documentation is out of date, so I bet a deep-dive on that would be really cool and I'd learn a lot.

Anyway, hope this is the sort of thing you're looking for. Thanks for the videos and the forum!

Heya Ridley,

Thanks for stopping by to share your thoughts, and welcome!

I love the idea of going deeper in depth with midi devices and routing as well as custom software controllers using something like Pure data (Pd). I haven't really touched hydrogen in years, but in the past, I used it a lot for jamming and testing out different Guitarix configurations. Maybe I could touch on some of my favorite Linux software as a guitarist.

I'm blown away at the positive feedback I've gotten, and I really hope to continue growing this community into something special for everyone.

Thanks again for taking some time to share your thoughts and experiences!
